For the record, the stadium was
established in the year 2007 by the former finance minister late Saifur
Rahman. The stadium is of 615 feet height and 485 feet width. It is
surrounded by green hills, hillock and loads of natural beauty around
the stadium which is not quite often seen in Bangladesh. The venue is
ideally located and can be reached in 15 minutes from either the airport
or the town center.
The cricket committee of Sylhet
Divisional Sports Association has also helped in the project, although
they have no direct authority of the stadium or the construction work.
They are acting as a conduit in various ways, like making sure each of
the two roads and walkways are built around the ground.
The General Secretary of the Sylhet
division cricket organization ADHOC committee Jumma Abbas informed that,
“To make the stadium prepared for the world cup t-20 2014, the project
of around 60-65 lakhs is going on with a great speed. The work was
started on 7th of June. Around 400 different types of labors
are working there.” He also stated that the gallery, floodlight, indoor
stadium and media center is not prepared yet. This are the things which
have to get prepared .
This has been said that, this stadium
will be one of the 5 most beautiful stadiums in the world for the
natural beauty it is surrounded by.
